Genesis 2:15-17 | Why do you think God planted a tree called “the tree of the knowledge of good and evil”?

1 John 4:8 | Why would a loving God give us freedom and choices?

Illustration: A robot can’t love because it doesn’t have true freedom.

Fun Facts

Many people have asked the question: Did God create Satan? The answer is actually no. The name “Satan” means enemy and God didn’t create an enemy, he created a perfect angel in heaven (remember everything God makes is good). It was this angel who used his freedom to become God’s enemy. So who made Satan? Himself.

LIVING IT

Discuss: What is one new thing you learnt today?

Decide: In the battle between God and Satan, and between good and evil, do you want to be on God’s side?

Do: In your own time, read Matthew 4:1-11 to learn about a time when Jesus came face-to-face with Satan.
