Fun Facts

What would you do if you knew the exact day Jesus was coming back? In the 1800s, William Miller thought he had worked it out! After studying a prophecy in Daniel, he and many others believed Jesus would return on October 22, 1844. Imagine the excitement! As the day drew near, some even sold their homes and gave the money away, while farmers left their crops unharvested, believing they wouldn’t need these things once Jesus returned! But the day came, and Jesus didn’t come! This day became known as “The Great Disappointment.” While some walked away from God, others went back to their Bibles and realised they had misunderstood the prophecy. As they kept studying, they discovered more Bible truths, including the Sabbath, and the Seventh-day Adventist Church grew from this group. Today, we remember Jesus’ warning that “No one knows the day or hour” (Matthew 24:36). But one thing hasn’t changed—we still can’t wait for Jesus to come back!
